Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about getting your talk live and your audience asking great questions.

🎙️ Getting Your Transcript

It depends on how you recorded it. If you used iPhone Voice Memos or Google Recorder on Android, the transcript is already generated automatically — just open the recording, copy the text, and paste it into Ask the Speaker.

If you have an MP3 or video file from a conference AV system or someone else's recording, run it through Otter.ai to get the transcript first, then paste it in.

Plan ahead and you'll have your session ready within minutes of leaving the stage.

  • Larger rooms: Ask the audio tech team to record the session directly from the desk — this gives you the cleanest audio with no background noise.
  • Smaller rooms: Place your phone near the loudspeaker before you begin. iPhone Voice Memos and Google Recorder both transcribe automatically.

Either way, you walk off stage, open the recording, and your transcript is waiting.

Yes — before pasting your transcript, add a few sentences at the very top to give the AI the fullest possible context:

  • The correct spelling of the speaker's name (and any other names mentioned)
  • What the presentation was about
  • The type of audience in the room — their industry, seniority, or what brought them there
💡 Pro tip: The AI uses this context when forming every answer. A few extra sentences upfront can make a significant difference to the quality of responses your audience receives.

Yes. The AI works with whatever text you provide. A full transcript gives the richest Q&A experience since it captures everything that was actually said, but detailed speaker notes or a script will work well too.

🎤 About Sessions

A session is a dedicated Q&A space built around one talk, keynote, or presentation. Attendees type questions and get answers drawn directly from what you said — no hallucination, no guesswork, no generic responses.

Each attendee gets 10 questions per session. In practice most people ask far fewer — but the allowance is there so nobody feels cut off mid-conversation.

No. Attendees simply visit your session link or use the embedded widget on your website and start asking immediately. No sign-up, no friction.

Yes — when creating a session you choose whether it's open to anyone or protected by a passcode. You share that passcode with your audience however you like — on a slide, in an email, verbally from the stage.

Sessions stay live indefinitely — there's no expiry. They remain available until you choose to delete them from your dashboard.

📄 PDFs & Slide Decks

When you create a session, Ask the Speaker can automatically generate a PDF summary and a slide deck based entirely on your transcript — no extra work required on your part.

These appear as download buttons inside the session widget so your audience can take something tangible away alongside the Q&A.

No — it's completely your choice. During session setup, check the box to include the PDF and slides for your audience, or leave it unchecked if you'd prefer the session to be Q&A only.

You can think of them as optional bonus content — they're generated automatically if you want them, and invisible if you don't.

🌐 Embedding on Your Website

Yes — every session comes with an embed code you can drop into any website. It works on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, and plain HTML — anywhere you can paste an embed or HTML block.

You can also customise the embed with your own branding — client logo, sponsor logo, colours, and text — so it feels native to your event page rather than a third-party widget.

No. Copy the embed code from your dashboard, paste it into an HTML or embed block on your event page, and publish. That's it — the whole process takes under two minutes.

💳 Billing & Sessions

You purchase a bundle of sessions as a one-time payment — no subscription, no monthly fees. Each session is one talk or presentation.

  • Starter — 10 sessions
  • Standard — 20 sessions
  • Plus — 30 sessions
  • Pro — 50 sessions

Sessions don't expire, so you can use them at your own pace across multiple events.

You can top up with 5 additional sessions at any time directly from your dashboard — no need to purchase a new package.

🔒 Privacy & Security

Yes. Your transcript is stored securely and is never shared with third parties or used to train any AI model. Only you and the people you share the session link or passcode with can access it.
