Session Questions
The simplest way to capture your talk is to hit record on your phone before you walk on stage.
- Larger rooms: Ask the audio tech team to record from the desk — this gives you the cleanest audio.
- Smaller rooms: Place your phone near the loudspeaker before you begin.
iPhone Voice Memos and Google Recorder on Android both transcribe automatically — so your text is ready the moment you finish.
Once you have a recording, getting the transcript is straightforward:
- iPhone Voice Memos / Google Recorder: The transcript is auto-generated. Open the recording and copy the text.
- MP3 or video file from a conference AV system: Upload it to Otter.ai to get the transcript, then copy and paste it in.
- No recording? Speaker notes or a script also work — a transcript just gives the richest Q&A experience.
Before pasting your transcript, add a few sentences at the very top. This gives the AI the context it needs to deliver much better answers:
- The correct spelling of the speaker's name (and anyone else mentioned)
- What the presentation was about
- The type of audience — their industry, seniority, or what brought them there
Head to Create Session and fill in the details — speaker name, session title, event name.
Paste your prepared transcript, then choose your options:
- PDF & slide deck: Check the box to auto-generate these from your transcript, or leave it unchecked for Q&A only.
- Passcode: Choose whether the session is open to anyone or protected by a code you share with your audience.
Hit Create Session — it'll be live in seconds.
Your session is live. Now get it in front of your audience:
- Share the link: Copy it from the dashboard and send it by email, put it on a slide, or post it in the event app.
- Embed it: Use the Customise Embed button to add your branding and drop it directly onto your event website — no developer needed.
Attendees get 10 questions each, no sign-up required. You can view everything they asked from your dashboard at any time.
